Drains & clogs
Slow drains, standing water and recurring blockages.
Read the drain & clog help guide →Running, blocked or leaking toilets. Start with what you can observe, then ask an independent plumbing business to confirm the assessment, scope and price.
You do not need a technical diagnosis to start the conversation. If you share photos, take them only from a safe position and avoid including unnecessary personal information.
A running toilet describes water continuing to flow into or through the fixture. A blockage describes difficulty clearing the bowl. Tell the plumbing business which behavior you observe; the provider determines the cause.
Note whether it runs continuously, fails to flush, leaks at the base or appears blocked. Mention when the issue began, whether it repeats, and whether other fixtures are affected.
The symptom alone does not establish what needs replacement. An assessment should determine the source and condition. Ask the provider to explain its recommended repair or replacement before authorizing work.
Ask what caused the problem, which parts or fixture are proposed, what the quote includes and whether disposal or other related work is included. Confirm any warranty terms directly with the performing business.
You can state a preference. It becomes an appointment only after an identified plumbing business accepts and a specific date and window are confirmed. A preferred time or completed inquiry checklist is not a booking.
Confirm the business’s legal or trading name, relevant license and any assessment or travel fee. State access restrictions, parking or building-management requirements. Agree on the appointment date and arrival window directly with the provider.
Ask for the scope, price, inclusions and exclusions. Confirm how additional work would be authorized, who handles follow-up, and any written warranty terms. A preferred appointment time, inquiry checklist or initial estimate is not approval to begin work.
